Gemotions

The warm evening air drifted through the open windows of the bookstore, carrying the scent of old paper and freshly brewed tea. David browsed the shelves, his fingers gently skimming the spines of the novels. He felt perfectly serene. He had nothing pressing in his life at all. He happened to spot a wallet on a low shelf, right where the history books were kept.

He took the wallet, running his finger across the smooth leather. It was a handsome piece, and he opened it to see how its owner was doing. A substantial amount of money was inside, along with several credit cards and an ID. He knew he'd do the right thing, return it.

He thought he'd enjoy a quick walk. The bookstore owner had a phone, and he’d make a call to find its owner. He could enjoy this feeling of lightness for a little while.
